Plain-English summary of what Advocate actually does with your information.
Advocate is a personal AI assistant. Your data is never sold. Here is exactly what happens to it — described from what the software really does, not from what sounds reassuring.
We don't yet delete old chats automatically. Signed-in chats stay until you delete your account; guest chats stay on our server.
Saved chats are stored on our server as readable text. People on our team who run the server can read them. We look to fix problems and to review feedback, feature requests, and things the assistant said it couldn't do. Those are kept in a review list with a copy of your message (and your email, if you're signed in) so we can decide what to build next.
To answer you (in chat or the document explainer), your messages are sent to outside AI companies. When your message goes to the AI that writes replies, and before a web search, some personal details (like email addresses and phone numbers) are masked, not everything. Older messages and notes the assistant looks back at may be sent as written. Pictures you send, and requests to make pictures, go as they are.
Our server runs on Amazon Web Services, and all traffic to the site passes through Cloudflare. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits, such as which pages are viewed and from which country and browser. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't follow you across other sites, and isn't used for ads. Sign-in codes are emailed through Proton Mail.
These companies have their own privacy policies and may keep their own logs. AI can be wrong — check anything important before you rely on it.
The 🎤 talk-to-text button uses your browser's or phone's built-in speech recognition, which may send the audio to that company (for example Google or Apple) to turn it into text. Advocate only receives the typed text.
Premium is billed through Stripe. You pay on Stripe's own checkout page, so your card details go to Stripe, not to us. Advocate never sees or stores your card number. We keep a small billing record: your email, your plan, its status and renewal date, and the customer and subscription IDs Stripe gives us. Stripe keeps its own records of your payments.
To cancel, open Settings in the assistant and choose Manage billing. That opens Stripe's billing page, where you can cancel, update your card, or see invoices. If you cancel, you keep Premium until the end of the month or year you paid for. You can't delete your account while your subscription is set to renew or has an unpaid balance, so cancel it first. After your account is deleted, we keep only the billing records we're required to keep for taxes and accounting.
Your data is not sold, and Advocate shows no ads. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles.
Signed in? Open Settings (gear / logo) in the assistant to export your account data, or delete your account there and we'll delete your account and the chats and chat memory saved to it. Deletion is permanent.
